Best Mini Golf for Kids in Costa Blanca

Looking for some family fun playing golf in miniature this summer? We look at some of our favourite Costa Blanca crazy golf courses

Introduction

A firm family holiday favourite, mini golf (or miniature golf) remains timeless in its popularity and appeal. It’s a great way to spend an hour or two doing an activity outdoors, whether you’re competitive and take it super seriously, or you just want to have a bit of fun.

For anyone not familiar with the concept, mini golf (or ‘crazy’ golf as it is sometimes called) tends to have short holes played using a putter, usually of irregular shapes. They are sometimes loosely modelled in appearance on a real golf course, only in miniature. To make things more interesting, there will usually be a variety of obstacles distributed around the course to navigate around, under and through.

Being a popular holiday destination, Costa Blanca is blessed with no shortage of mini golf courses. There would be too many to list them all. So, here are just a few of our family favourites.

#1 Greenlands Golf, Los Montesinos

Open daily: 09:00-22:30

Our Costa Blanca Kids top pick, Greenlands Golf is a tropical oasis hidden away in countryside outside of Los Montesinos. The lush and landscaped gardens that surround the course make for beautiful surroundings to play in, while the challenging 18 hole course is fun for all.

There are several rest areas around the course to take a break in or wait comfortably in if its busy, with good thought given to providing regular shade from the sun.

The holes are often quite long in length and designed in colours that look like those of a real golf course. There are an assortment of obstacles around the course, but not as many large novelty obstacles as at some other courses. Some holes have the option of an easier or harder route, meaning that players of different abilities can remain well matched.

As well as the mini golf course, Greenlands also has a 9 hole pitch and putt course, a driving range, a putting practice green (that our kids loved playing on) and an attractive bar and restaurant area that overlooks the courses. There is the option of purchasing a reduced rate combined golf and food ticket. It’s a lovely spot to spend a family mini golf day in Costa Blanca.

#2 Greenlands Golf, Blue lagoon

Open daily: 10:00-21:00

Brand new for summer 2024, Greenlands Blue Lagoon is the new offering from the same people behind the original Greenlands mini golf in Los Montesinos (see above).

The new site is conveniently located just outside of the popular housing area of Blue Lagoon, in Orihuela Costa. Our immediate impressions when attending the opening event were that clearly no expense has been spared when constructing the course and facilities. Like at their other site, the whole course has been beautifully planted and landscaped to create the feeling of a tropical oasis.

There are also several interesting obstacles and decorations distributed around the course, with the centrepiece being a large pirate ship that actually has a hole playing through it!

As well as the long, 18 hole course, Greenlands Blue Lagoon also has its own bar and restaurant area, with a large outdoor terrace that overlooks the course. There is also a room with several pool tables available for hire. Like at their other location, Greenlands Blue Lagoon offers a packaged entrance fee that includes a round of golf and a meal in the restaurant.

#3 The Big Adventure Mini Golf, Lomas de Cabo Roig

Open daily: 09:30 – late. Entrance fee from €10

Attached to Kulturas restaurant in Lomas de Cabo Roig, The Big Adventure Mini Golf promises exciting mini golf in relaxed surroundings. The 18 hole course has a variety of holes, none of which are too long. Most are surrounded by banked sides as well, making them more suitable for kids as it is difficult to lose your ball off the side of the course.

The holes are green and styled on a real golf course. There are a few rocks around the course providing interest, but not any larger novelty obstacles.

Being a proper restaurant in its own right, Kulturas offers a great menu of Spanish and internationl dishes, as well as a full bar menu. Sometimes it is possible to get a reduced price golf and food combination offer. The golf is lit up at night and stays open as late as the restaurant (to midnight or later), making this a great late night mini golf option in Costa Blanca.

#4 Crazy Golf, Lomas de Cabo Roig

Open daily: 12:00-00:00

Also located in Lomas de Cabo Roig, Crazy Golf offers 18 small holes in a compact setting. The holes may appear simple but they can still be challenging for players of all ages.

The course has very friendly staff and a small selection of drinks and food snacks available to purchase. There is also a pool table to play on.

One of the best features of this course is that it has for years been consistently great value, costing less than most of the other courses in the area. If you are looking for a relaxed place to play with kids that won’t break the bank, this could be the place for you.

#5 Mini Golf La Mosca, Playa Flamenca

Open daily: 11:00-23:00

Mini Golf La Mosca is perhaps most notable for its unique location – set on a rooftop in Playa Flamenca with sweeping views out over the sea. This makes for an atmospheric setting in which to play. The rooftop bar serves a range of drinks and snacks, as well as having pool tables, mini bowling and arcade machines.

The venue actually has 2, 18 hole courses – a mini golf course modelled on a real golf course in its stylings, and a crazy golf course with more ramps and obstacles to avoid. Some of the holes on both courses are quite challenging and it is sometimes hard for inexperienced players to keep their ball on the holes of the mini golf course. This means younger children may find it a bit too difficult.

The elevated setting ensures sea breezes to help cool players down, but the course is otherwise lacking in shade. Still, if you want a round of mini golf in Costa Blanca with an expansive sea views, then you won’t find better.

#6 Lo Rufete, San Miguel de Salinas

Open daily: 0900-19:00

Located in countryside outside of San Miguel de Salinas, Lo Rufete is a multi-activity centre with a great range of things to do. It is one of the best places for adventure activities for kids in Costa Blanca. It is possible to do quad bike tours, horse riding, paintball, zip wires, kayaking, archery and, of course, mini golf. There is also a small snack bar on site.

The mini golf course is constructed out of wood and, despite having seen better days, retains a certain charm. There is some nice variety around the course and a few obstacles to break up the play.

While it may not be the best mini golf course on this list, the centre as a whole is great fun for kids, so it is well worth a day trip to see. It is possible to buy passes for multiple activities that include a round of mini golf.

#7 La Chismosa, La Florida

Open daily: 10:00-22:00

Tucked away near to the La Florida urbanisation in Orihuela Costa, La Chismosa is a bar and restaurant with children’s playground and mini golf course. The golf course is compact but well looked after, with a few fun obstacles. Being a family restaurant, this is a good place to play with kids without feeling pressured by more serious players.

The restaurant serves a good selection of Spanish food and always has a friendly atmosphere.

As well as the mini golf, Las Chismosa also has a large, outdoor swimming pool open in the summer months (separate charge applies). This makes it also one of our best family restaurants with outdoor swimming pools in Costa Blanca.

#8 Mini Golf Las Salinas, Torrevieja

Open Tues-Thurs, Sun: 11:00-22:00, Fri-Sat: 11:00-23:30

Located near to the marina in Torrevieja, Mini Golf Las Salinas is a long standing Costa Blanca favourite that is still is great shape. The course has 18 holes in a traditional crazy golf style with low metal tube barriers surrounding each hole. There are plenty of novelty obstacles to navigate all around the course, making it fun (and at times frustrating!) for players of all ages.

The course is also home to a nice little bar and restaurant, serving up burgers and various tapas dishes. The location means that the course can be easily reached on foot from central Torrevieja and the seafront promenade, making it a good option to add on to a family visit to this coastal city. It is also great value too.

#9 Quesada Mini Golf, Ciudad Quesada

Open daily: 09:30-23:30

Set just off the main road passing Ciudad Quesada, is Quesada Mini Golf. With 18 holes in a pleasant setting that offer reasonable variety of play, with ramps and a selection of small obstacles, the course is a fun place to spend some time playing mini golf with family in Costa Blanca.

The attached restaurant is particularly popular with British visitors, with a menu to match, including a good value Sunday lunch set menu.

#10 MundiGolf, Altea

Open daily: 11:00-00:30

Sitting next to the sea on the coastal promenade between the towns of Altea and Albir, is MundiGolf Altea. Based on famous locations from around the world, with obstacles and buildings to match (such as Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower), the theme of this mini golf is arguably one of the most fun around. The variety of the 17 holes on offer also helps to make it one of the very best mini golf courses for kids in Costa Blanca. We had a great time playing here.

Alongside the golf course there is a cafe bar serving up a range of drinks and snacks, all enjoyed with perfect sea views across to the pebble beach that runs alongside. The golf course also stays open late for anyone wanting an evening game.

As well as having mini golf, this section of the seafront promenade also makes a great family walk to do with kids. Also, for anyone staying in Benidorm, there are easy bus links available to bring you here.

#11 La Farola Crazy Golf, Benidorm

Situated towards the western end of Benidorm, La Farola Crazy Golf offers good value mini golf for all the family. The course has 18 holes and has been constructed in a traditional style with metal tube surrounds around the raised holes. Although looking a little dated in places, the course remains fun and has a selection of a few nice obstacles spread around.

As well as the golf, there is a relaxed bar area that serves a range of drinks and snacks.

#12 Mini Golf The Bull, Benidorm

Open daily: 10:00-23:00

Located up the other end of the city and in a more central location in Benidorm is Mini Golf The Bull. Despite occupying such a great location, the course has not made the most of its potential, with many of the holes starting to look a bit worn in places. The holes are also mainly quite simplistic, making it fun for beginners and children but lacking any great challenge for more advanced players.

That said, if you are looking for a mini golf course in central Benidorm and just want a quick bit of fun, you may still enjoy a visit. There are also inflatables and a small soft play area to keep kids entertained.

#13 The Brevis, Moraira

Mini golf course with stone ramps

Open daily: 11:00-23:00

Located around 2km outside of Moraira, The Brevis bar and grill is a family friendly restaurant with various entertainment options for kids. There is a small soft play, inflatables, and mini race track, as well as an 18 hole mini golf course.

As far as the golf goes, the course is of a traditional construction with the holes fenced by metal tubing. Rocks and stone ramps distributed around the course provide the obstacles. The course is compact but still challenging in places for all abilities.

One downside is that the course has virtually no shade at all, so is best played in the evenings during summer, as it can get too hot during the middle of the day.

#14 Barnaby’s Mini Golf, Javea

Open daily: 18:00-late

Located a short walk from Arenal beach in Javea, is Barnaby’s Mini Golf. Also a bar and restaurant serving basic bar-type food, Barnaby’s has 18 holes of mini golf based on a traditional construction with metal tube sides to the holes.

The course is mainly quite basic looking and without any elaborate obstacles or decoration. Despite this, the holes are still quite well designed to provide a fun experience. It is good that they get progressively harder as you make your way around the course.
