Where is Tirolinas Go!?

Tirolinas Go! is a small chain of high ropes centres distributed around Spain. For Costa Blanca, our local centre is located in woodland just outside of the town of La Nucia, a 15 minute drive inland from the coast at Benidorm. This is the centre I will be discussing here.

For anyone not with a car, there are buses that run from Benidorm to La Nucia passing close to the entrance to the centre.

What is Tirolinas Go!?

Tirolinas Go! Alicante is a woodland high ropes course centre. For anyone not familiar with the concept, high ropes courses involve negotiating various pathways and obstacles that are suspended high in and between the trees. This makes them particularly challenging for anyone with a fear of heights!

The high ropes at the Alicante centre have been divided into 4 separate courses to be completed. Each course takes approximately half an hour to an hour to complete on average, although obviously everyone will be different depending on their confidence and physical ability. Each of these courses features a variety of treetop obstacles, including walkways, swings, nets and, most fun of all, zipwires! The biggest of the zipwires is an impressive 300m long!

In addition to the 4 main courses, there is also a separate standalone zipwire, as well as a ‘low ropes’ course for younger children (or those who really don’t like heights!). This lower course features similar, simplified obstacles to the high ropes courses, but set just above ground height.

Other amenities at the centre include toilets and a basic cafe area with picnic tables.

Safety at Tirolinas Go!

Of course, for any activity that is based at height, safety is a key concern. Nobody wants to be falling out of a tree!

There is no need to worry about this at Tirolinas Go! Alicante, as safety is taken very seriously by the staff at the centre. Before getting anywhere near the courses, all visitors are carefully fitted with a climbing safety harness and helmets, before then being given a full briefing of rules and instructions.

The high ropes courses also utilise a rope system that means that one rope is always connected between the participant and the safety wire as you pass around the course. It is only possible to disconnect this rope at either the start or end of the course. This ensures that it is actually impossible to accidentally leave yourself unconnected, making the course completely safe for all. There is a small test area of ropes on the ground for users to familiarise themselves with the rope system used before taking to the treetops.

There are always several members of staff circulating around the courses at ground level, able to assist anyone who may need help or encouragement.

How much does Tirolinas Go! Cost?

At the time of our visit, the admission fee was €25 for adults and children over 1.45m in height, and €20 for children under 1.45m.

For the latest prices, refer to their website.

Kids at Tirolinas Go!

Tirolinas Go! is equipped to entertain all the family. The various high ropes courses offer excitement for adults and braver children, while the low ropes course provides accessibility for all.

Anyone not wanting the exertion of doing a ropes course can enjoy a ride down the standalone zipwire.

There is equipment available for children of all sizes.

My 8 and 6 year old children (who are both quite physically able and not scared easily) were able to join me on the high ropes courses, my 4 year old enjoyed the zipwire and low ropes, while my 2½ year old enjoyed having a little play on the low ropes course and running around in the woods watching his big sisters up in the trees.

Our Experiences of Tirolinas Go!

The Setup of the Courses

The courses are set in woodland, so are largely in the shade. A few of the obstacles are a little strenuous, but generally most are pretty easy going, making the course suitable for most users and able to be done at most times of the year, even in summer when it gets hot.

There is a nice variety of obstacles set around the courses. Sometimes there is a choice of routes, with the option of an easier or more difficult obstacle to take on.

Although not the highest of high ropes courses we have visited, some of the obstacles still get right up in the trees – plenty high enough for anyone who doesn’t much like it up there!

As a taller user, one slight issue I had was that some of the cables were positioned running right through the centre of the obstacle. This made it impossible to try and complete those obstacles by balance only without holding on to your own safety rope with any hands, which is always a fun challenge to try for anyone looking to try and make the course more daring. This was only a minor complaint though, and didn’t affect children.

The low ropes course is perfect for little children. It gives them the chance to get a harness on and feel properly involved as they take on a ropes course, while only being at a very easy height for access and providing assistance as they go.

The Rope System

Once practised a little, the rope system was generally quite easy to get the hang of, although there are points where the attachments can get a bit stuck on the cables. As an adult, I was able to manage it easily, but I had to help my kids out from time to time. I would therefore recommend that children on the high ropes courses are accompanied by an adult, so that they don’t get stuck anywhere (although there are staff on hand to help if they do).

One nice touch is that wooden stumps have been provided on the tree platforms where you transition between obstacles, giving shorter users something to stand on while they sort out their ropes.

It is comforting to know that the safety rope cannot be disconnected during the course, meaning children can be left to tackle the obstacles on their own without any fear of them falling or injuring themselves.

The harnesses, helmets and safety equipment provided were all modern and in good, clean condition.

The Staff

The staff were multilingual, experienced and always on hand to help. They were particularly patient with our two youngest children, trying to ensure that they also enjoyed their visit despite being too small to take on the high ropes courses. Safety was also taken seriously at all times.

Food and other facilities

The cafe area is only basic and strangely the centre doesn’t allow any picnics or outside food in the woodland area, so it is best to visit outside of meal times. The toilets and other facilities were clean and well kept.

In Summary

Overall, we all greatly enjoyed our visit to Tirolinas Go! Alicante. My older girls had an exciting time taking on the high ropes courses. So did I, although certain sections left me slightly exhausted! As could be expected, the long zip wires that end each of the courses were big hits.

We all left having had a fun family day out, with my kids already keen to return and try more! If you are looking for something adventurous to do with your children, go and check out the treetop high ropes adventures for kids at Tirolinas Go! Alicante. You’ll be sure to have a great time.
