Too cold to swim outside? Here are some of our top picks for heated swimming pools in Costa Blanca so you can keep swimming all year round…
Introduction
Being well known internationally as a sunny holiday destination, Costa Blanca has no shortage of outdoor swimming pools. They are everywhere. However, outside of the summer months these are generally too cold to swim in. Because of this, during the winter months, we get a lot of people asking us about where to find the best heated swimming pools in Costa Blanca.
While obviously not nearly as common as outdoor pools, there are still a selection of heated swimming pools available in Costa Blanca. There are many hotels in the region that have their own heated swimming pools or spa areas for their guests to use. So, if you are coming to visit the area on holiday, you should consider looking for one of these.
Outside of these private hotel pools, there are also several heated swimming pools spread throughout Costa Blanca that are open for anyone to use. Here I have listed a selection, all of which also allow children to use them. While mostly indoor pools, for anyone willing to travel a little, there is also an option of a naturally heated hot spring outdoor pool – read on to find out more.
Sometimes these pools are only open for public sessions or allow kids to use them at certain times, so always check their schedules first before visiting. Some require swimming hats to be worn, so also look out for that.
Alternatively, if you are actually looking for a swimming pool in summer (when being heated is not necessary), also take a look at our best family restaurants with swimming pools in Costa Blanca, or for more excitement, our best water parks for kids in Costa Blanca.
Or, if you are looking for other activities to do indoors, check out our best rainy day activities for kids in Costa Blanca.
Here though, we are looking at the best heated swimming pools in Costa Blanca for kids.

Indoor Heated Swimming Pools in Costa Blanca
As you might expect, most of the heated swimming pools in Costa Blanca are indoors. Here are a selection of indoor municipal swimming pools that kids are allowed to use. Always check the local schedules for when the free swimming sessions are though, as these pools are often also used for private groups and classes.
#1 Piscina Municipal, Pilar de la Horadada

Located in the far south of Costa Blanca is the municipal swimming pool at Pilar de la Horadada. This indoor pool is heated to a good temperature and also featues a separate jacuzzi.
While usually laned as more of a serious pool for swimming adults, the pool also operates dedicated sessions for children at other times.
Tickets are available either for single sessions only, or alternatively multiple visit tickets can be bought that represent better value if you plan on going regularly.
#2 Esperanza Lag, Elche

Located in the city of Elche in the centre of Costa Blanca, is the Esperanza Lag Sports Centre. Part of the offering at this centre is a heated indoor swimming pool with terraced seating for spectators.
This swimming pool operates a busy timetable of classes and different sessions, including free swimming sessions and lessons for children.
#3 Piscina Municipal Coberta ‘El Panta’, Villajoyosa

Heading further north in Costa Blanca towards Benidorm is the municipal swimming pool Coberta ‘El Panta’ in Villajoyosa. This indoor pool is nicely heated and features a large glass wall at one end that floods the pool with natural light.

#4 Piscina Municipal, Benitachell

For anyone looking for a heated swimming pool in the north of Costa Blanca, the best option is the municipal pool at Benitachell. This large indoor pool has a domed glass ceiling that lets in loads of natural light and the water is heated to a good temperature.
The pool operates a range of different sessions, with kids welcome to swim during a selection of these.
Indoor Heated Spa Pools in Costa Blanca
As mentioned before, as well as the municipal heated swimming pools in Costa Blanca that are listed above, there are also many private hotel pools and spas in the region. There are too many to list them all but the following two spas are both open to non-guests and allow children to use them at certain times.
#5 Hotel Dña Monse Spa, Los Balcones, Torrevieja

Located in Los Balcones, just outside of the city of Torrevieja in the south of Costa Blanca, is the Hotel Dña Monse Spa. This stylish upmarket hotel has its own indoor heated pool and spa area.
Non-guests are also able to pay to use the spa. There are specific times only when children are allowed in. The kids sessions last for 1½ hours and take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 4pm. The cost of entry is €18 for adults (aged 12+) and €9 for children (aged 3-11).
#6 Marina Senses, La Marina

Located within the fantastic camping resort complex at La Marina, is the Marina Senses spa. This indoor spa features a range of different pools with massaging water jets and fountains. The water is lovely and warm – unless of course you opt for a dip in the freezing cold plunge pool!
Guests of the camping resort get a reduced admission cost into the spa. So why not combine a visit with a short break? We’ve always really enjoyed family camping at the incredible La Marina resort.
Outdoor Heated Swimming Pools in Costa Blanca
While manually heating an outdoor pool in Costa Blanca on a commercial scale through the winter would simply not be a practical option, a short drive into the neighbouring Murcia region brings you to the town of Fortuna. Here, the town is blessed with a supply of natural hot water that rises up from the hot springs underground, allowing for year-round outdoor swimming in beautifully warm water.
#7 Camping La Fuente, Fortuna

The easiest way to experience the hot springs at Los Baños de Fortuna, is with a visit to the swimming pools at Camping La Fuente. This campsite has 2 swimming pools, both of which have both covered and uncovered sections, and feature water jets and jacuzzis. The pools are heated to a lovely 36°C, meaning a warm and comfortable swim whatever the temperature outside.
The swimming pools at Camping La Fuente are open to both campsite guests and non-guests. Camping guests get a discounted entry to the pools. For more information on Camping La Fuente, also see our review of camping with kids at hot spring heated swimming pool.
In Summary
While swimming in Spain’s Costa Blanca region would usually involve outdoor pools, water parks and plenty of summer sunshine, during the winter months the water gets just too cold for all but the very hardiest of swimmers.
That doesn’t have to mean no swimming at all though, as I hope has been demonstrated by this list of heated swimming pools in Costa Blanca. By visiting a heated pool, swimming is possible all year round – whether that be indoors or even at a natural outdoor hot springs pool.
With heated swimming pools spread throughout Costa Blanca and beyond, there is really nothing to stop you and your kids having a splash.
